Another Sri Lankan campus is opening the door to safer, more supported conversations.
We're excited to share that Horizon Campus, Malabe has joined the growing network of institutions bringing the Let'sTALK Program to their community. The initiative came directly from Horizon Campus itself — their student counsellor reached out and extended the invitation for Let'sTALK to be introduced on campus, recognising the value it could bring to staff, lecturers and students alike.
Starting Where It Matters Most: With the People Who Support Students Every Day
As with every Let'sTALK rollout, the program at Horizon Campus began with the people students turn to first — staff and lecturers. Before Let'sTALK reaches the student body, it's essential that the university's own team feels confident, equipped and comfortable having open conversations about mental health, stress and wellbeing. Once that foundation is set, the training extends to students themselves, helping build a consistent culture of support that runs through every level of campus life.
A Training Session That Left a Lasting Impression
The first phase of training at Horizon Campus was led by our Chief Trainer, Mrs. Dulanganie, who brought her signature energy and expertise to the session. Rather than a passive lecture-style briefing, the training was designed to be highly interactive and activity-based, keeping staff and lecturers engaged from start to finish while covering the practical skills needed to notice, respond to, and support someone who may be struggling.
Feedback from the session was overwhelmingly positive. Participants found the training informative, engaging and genuinely useful — a reflection of the thought and care that goes into every Let'sTALK session, and of the CCC Foundation's belief that training on such an important topic doesn't have to feel heavy or clinical to be effective.
What's Next for Let'sTALK at Horizon Campus
The response from Horizon Campus has been so positive that the university has asked us to stay closely connected, with plans to keep the momentum going through regular updates and continued engagement rather than treating this as a one-time visit. This is exactly the spirit Let'sTALK is built on — not a single workshop, but an ongoing relationship that grows deeper and more embedded in campus culture over time.
Looking ahead, the next phase will see Let'sTALK training extended to Horizon Campus students, building on the groundwork laid with staff and lecturers, and bringing the same open, safe-conversation culture directly into student life.
Why This Matters for University Communities?
University life brings its own unique pressures — academic deadlines, financial stress, being away from family, and the transition into adulthood, to name just a few. Having lecturers and staff who are trained to recognise the signs of distress, and who feel confident starting a supportive conversation, can make a real difference in a student's experience and wellbeing.
This is the same philosophy behind 1333 crisis support line (CCCline), the CCC Foundation's free, confidential, 24/7 crisis support line for anyone in Sri Lanka. Let'sTALK and 1333 work hand in hand: while 1333 is there for the moment someone needs to talk right now, Let'sTALK works upstream — building everyday environments, like Horizon Campus, where people feel safe enough to speak up long before a crisis point is reached.
Join the Growing Let'sTALK Community
Horizon Campus joins a growing list of Sri Lankan institutions bringing Let'sTALK on board, each starting their own journey toward building a culture of open, supportive conversation. If your university, school or workplace would like to explore what a partnership with Let'sTALK could look like, we'd love to hear from you.
